the gardens

natural tranquility

The gardens were started in 1984 by Martin Gould from a bare field site attached to an old Galloway cottage. Since 2001 they have been widely redeveloped by Martin and Sharon. The trees were mainly planted in 1989 and are a major part of the gardens. 3 ponds dominate a series of richly planted terraced gardens. To the rear of the Waterhouse a pondside paved seating area nestles amongst an abundance of flowers and scented herbs underfoot. Climbing plants are also a major feature with over 50 varieties of Clematis, Roses and Honeysuckles. All the gardens may be used by guests. See details of garden open days below.
